The COL Fit Guide: Athletic Cut, Race Cut & Women's Fit Explained

"What's the fit like?" is the most common question we get, and the honest answer is: it depends what you're looking at. Cut naming isn't always obvious from a product photo. This is the plain-language version — what our cuts actually mean, and how to know what you're getting before you order.

Athletic Cut Is the Default

Unless a listing says otherwise, most women's and men's jerseys we make ship in athletic cut — a contoured silhouette with a moderate taper built for a fitted, performance-first feel. It's not a "special" option, it's the standard. If a product page doesn't call out a different cut, this is it.

Race Cut: For When You Want It Tighter

Race cut is the option men actually weigh against the default — it's a closer, more aggressive taper built for riders chasing every watt of aero advantage. It's called out specifically on any product that has it. The real question isn't "athletic or race cut," it's "do I want the extra aero edge of race cut, or is athletic doing the job." Both are Second-Skin Precision — race cut just takes it further.

Women's Fit vs. Athletic — Read the Listing

Here's the one that gets confusing: in the women's category, "athletic" cut follows the same athletic-cut concept above — it's still the default unless a listing specifically says "Women's Fit."

Women's Fit is a distinct anatomical pattern — a taper at the waist, a flare at the hips, and a shorter torso length. Still the same Second-Skin Precision, with a more "cropped" fit. Check the listing, and check the Sizing Guide if you're unsure which one you're looking at.

What About Club Fit?

Club fit — the roomier, straighter-through-the-body cut — exists, but it's not something we stock heavily at retail. It's mainly built for teams and clubs through Custom Orders. If you want that extra room, that's the door to walk through.

Check the Sizing Guide for exact measurements by cut, shop the One Love Collection, or start a Custom Order if you want to build something specific.
